The Velvet Index
Editorial Charter
A curated journal of biographical research released four times a year — each edition presenting deeply researched profiles of women whose contributions to history are still being fully acknowledged.
The Editorial Charter is the Velvet Index's academic and narrative publication arm. Where the main archive assembles profiles drawn from encyclopaedic sources, the Charter goes further: each edition is a curated act of editorial judgement — selecting eight to ten subjects per release, writing extended biographical analyses with curatorial notes, primary source references, and an authored foreword explaining the selection rationale.
Each edition is citable as a standalone publication (format: Kalal, G. 2026. Velvet Index Editorial Charter, Vol. 1) and is designed to meet the documentation standards required for academic reference, journalism, and institutional research. All editions remain permanently archived and freely accessible below.
Four editions, every year.
New Charter editions are released on the first of each quarter month — June, September, December, and March.
